Zombie Cocktail

The Zombie cocktail, a quintessential Tiki drink, was created in the 1930s by Donn Beach (Don the Beachcomber) to revive a hungover customer. Known for its potent blend of rums, fruit juices, and a distinctive overproof rum float, this vibrant and exotic cocktail is sure to transport you to a tropical paradise.

What do we need for our Zombie Cocktail?

FOR 2 PORTIONS

  • 6 cl white rum
  • 6 cl golden rum
  • 6 cl dark rum
  • 4 cl apricot brandy
  • 4 cl lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 4 cl lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 6 cl pineapple juice
  • 6 cl passion fruit juice
  • 2 cl grenadine
  • 4 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 4 cl overproof rum (for float)
  • Ice cubes and crushed ice
  • Mint sprigs (for garnish)

How do we make our Zombie Cocktail?

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.

  2. Pour the white rum, golden rum, dark rum, apricot brandy, lime juice, lemon juice, pineapple juice, passion fruit juice, and grenadine into the shaker.

  3. Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds to combine all the ingredients well.

  4. Strain the mixture evenly into two large glasses filled with crushed ice.

  5. Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters to each glass.

  6. Carefully float 2 cl of overproof rum on top of each drink. To do this, slowly pour the rum over the back of a spoon held just above the surface of the drink.

  7. Garnish with mint sprigs.

This absolute classic amongst the fruity cocktails definitely is on the stronger side. We always make sure to have a glass of water with it. 🍹
