What do we need for our Twisted Pizza Hawaii?

FOR 2 Pizzas

For the dough:

  • 500 g flour (type 00)
  • 250 ml warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pinch of sugar
  • 1 cube yeast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the topping:

  • 1 can of pizzatomatoes (cubed)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • oregano, fresh or dried
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 small onion
  • 200 g grated cheese 
  • 150 g ham
  • 300 g pineapple, cut into cubes or rings
  • 2 tablespoons capers

How do we make our Twisted Pizza Hawaii?

  1. Crumble the yeast into a small bowl.
  2. Add water, olive oil, salt and sugar, mix well and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Pour the flour into a large bowl and add the yeast mixture.
  4. Knead well – first with the dough hook of a mixer and then by hand – to make the dough smooth and supple. The dough is ready when it doesn’t stick anymore. If it stays sticky, simply add more flour.
  5. Let the dough sit under a kitchen towel in a warm place for about 40 minutes until its volume has doubled.
  6. In the meantime mix the tomatoes with salt, pepper and oregano. Cut the onions into fine rings and cut the ham in pieces if desired.
  7. Now split the pizza dough in half and roll out each one on a floured work surface.
  8. Top the pizzas with the sauce, onions, capers and cheese. Then add ham and pineapple.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes at 250 degrees celsius upper and lower heat.

This delicious Pizza Hawaii surprises with capers and a really nice homemade pizza dough. The chances are high that even your friends who did not like pineapple on their pizza will change their minds. At least it has happened to us. 🙂
